More Food Options for Those in Need
Federal, state and local governments continue to address the health and economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is ensuring maximum flexibility in federal feeding programs to help those in need access nutritious foods.
• More WIC benefits. Many states have announced they will temporarily expand brand options and package sizes, as long as they meet existing nutrition criteria. Use our interactive WIC Cereal Locator Map to see approved Kellogg cereals in your state. In addition, we have two new WIC-approved cereals: Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats Blueberry and Strawberry cereals. That means that all Frosted Mini-Wheats flavors are now WIC-eligible!
• More SNAP benefits. Nearly every state has issued additional benefits to existing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households, up to the allowable maximum. Get more info on participating states.
• Online SNAP access. USDA continues to approve online SNAP purchasing programs. Soon, 50% of all SNAP households can use online SNAP purchasing programs, helping them follow social distancing directives while maintaining access to food. Learn more about the online programs.
• Food for school kids. A new Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program provides additional food assistance to families of children eligible for free or reduced-price meals when schools are closed. View participating states.

Keep Kids Cooking
In recent months, it’s likely you’ve cooked at home more and maybe included your kids in the process, too.
Helping in the kitchen is a great way for kids to learn new skills. Younger kids can practice hand-eye coordination and learn about shapes, colors, smells and tastes. Older kids can learn about nutrition and recipes and challenge their reading, vocabulary, science and math skills. Kids of all ages can make warm family memories.

Frozen Foods a Solid Choice during Pandemic
Nearly three out of 10 (29%) consumers recently reported eating more frozen foods than usual1—not surprising when many of us are stocking up on longer-lasting foods to limit shopping trips.
In April, we surveyed consumers about their behaviors related to our MorningStar Farms® line of vegetarian frozen foods. Here’s what we found:
• Most consumers report eating the same (53%) amount or more (29%) of MorningStar Farms® foods in the last several weeks.2
• Consumers who are buying more MorningStar Farms® foods say it’s because they’ve been eating these foods more (38%), the foods were on sale (13%) and were available during the shopping trip (13%).2
• Nine percent (9%) of consumers report eating MorningStar Farms® foods less often than usual, primarily because the foods were out of stock (60%).2
• Adults consume frozen foods mostly at dinner (71%) and lunch (55%), followed by snacks (28%) and breakfast (17%).1
Stay tuned—we’re monitoring the impact of potential scarcities in the meat supply on consumer consumption of frozen vegetarian foods.
