KELLOGG’S MYBOWL — AN EDUCATIONAL TOOL
Kellogg’s MyBowl™ is a simple tool that helps people understand how specific foods fit into “food groups,” specifically, how cereal, milk and fruit deliver servings and nutrients from the grains, dairy and fruit food groups.
The positioning and size of the colored bands around MyBowl reflect the different types and amounts of foods and food group combinations that could be enjoyed in a bowl. Orange represents the grains group; blue represents the dairy group; and red represents the fruit group.

HELP AMERICANS GET MORE FIBER
A cereal breakfast can help Americans get more fiber, which was noted in the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans as a “nutrient of concern,” since 9 out of 10** Americans don’t meet daily recommendations for fiber.4
In fact, on average, Americans consume just about half (14-18 g) of the 25-38 g of fiber they need each day.5
- Breakfast presents an excellent opportunity for increasing fiber intake, since Americans only get 18% of their daily fiber at breakfast.6
- A cereal breakfast, in particular, can boost fiber intake. Adults who eat cereals made with whole grains with at least 3 grams of fiber per serving get 42% more fiber at breakfast and 14% more throughout the day than adults who eat whole-grain cereals with less fiber.7
