When Will Colors Be Taken Out Of Flavored Mini Wheats ?

Q: When will colors be taken from flavored Mini-Wheats? We love Mini-Wheats, but we want variety without colors. We refuse to buy cereals with colors and we encourage our friends to avoid artificial colors.

A: We know many people are looking for foods with simpler ingredients and work is well under way to answer that call. In 2015, we announced a global goal to remove artificial colors and flavors across Kellogg’s-branded cereals and a variety of Kellogg’s-branded snack bars by the end of 2018. At that time, we noted some recipe changes may take longer to complete than others.

We have made significant progress against this goal. Since January 2017, the entire Eggo frozen waffle line has been free from artificial colors and flavors. A significant percentage of our cereals and snacks are also free from artificial ingredients. Specifically:

  • Today, 87 percent of Kellogg’s-branded cereals in the U.S. are made without certified artificial colors, and 96 percent are made without artificial flavors. In addition, 87 percent of Kellogg’s-branded cereals contain no artificial colors or flavors.
  • Also, 91 percent of Kellogg’s-branded snacks in the U.S. are made without certified artificial colors, and 68 percent are made without artificial flavors. In addition, 67 percent of Kellogg’s-branded snacks contain no artificial colors or flavors.

We will continue to transition Kellogg’s-branded cereals and snacks to natural colors and flavors. Ultimately, we will not sacrifice the great taste and quality people expect from their favorite Kellogg’s products.
