Q: Why are your sweetened cereals less expensive than your non-sweetened cereals, on the whole? It makes it much more expensive to eat healthy.
A: We don’t actually dictate the price that is on a given box at a given retailer. Pricing decisions are at the discretion of the stores that sell our cereals. At times, competition between retailers dictates promotional efforts on various products and many sweetened cereals tend to be promoted more frequently with price discounts than unsweetened cereals which may account for the price differences you are seeing. For what it is worth, we have been working to reduce the amount of sugar in cereal and have cut down the added sugar in kids’ cereals by 20-30% in the past few years.
