Rice is the star ingredient in some of Kellogg’s iconic foods, likeKellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal and Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®.
But did you know that farming rice releases methane, a gas that’s 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide1, into the atmosphere?
That’s why we’re excited about the early results of Kellogg’s InGrained™ program. This five-year partnership with Lower Mississippi River Basin rice farmers will implement climate-positive practices to help reduce their impact on the climate.
During the pilot year of the program, farmers achieved a reduction of more than 1,600 metric tons of greenhouse gases2 - the equivalent of taking more than 345 gasoline-powered cars off the road for one year.3
Kellogg’s InGrained™ contributes to our Kellogg’s™ Better Days Promise to advance sustainable and equitable access to food, creating better days for 3 billion people by the end of 2030. This includes supporting 1 million farmers and reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions across our value chain by 15 percent by the end of 2030.
