Women of Kellogg
In South Africa, we have Women of Kellogg which supports the company’s efforts to be an organization where all women learn, grow, lead, and succeed.
Driven by Purpose
Our company’s vision is of a good and just world, where people are not just fed, but fulfilled.
We’ve always been a purpose-driven organization – it’s in our DNA. Our founder, W.K. Kellogg, was an early conservationist, a leading philanthropist, and an original wellbeing visionary. With this legacy, we’ve inherited his commitment to purpose.
Kellogg’s® Better Days is our global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. It is our commitment to address the interconnected issues of health, food security and climate by creating Better Days for 3 billion people by the end of 2030
Today, through our ambitious Kellogg’s® Better Days commitment, we will:
Nourish People with our Food
This is our journey to bring you great tasting food that meets your needs. We take pride in making delicious foods that people love – foods that are sourced, produced and marketed responsibly.
Our purpose in South Africa is to nourish South African’s great by making plant-based food. We’ve been doing that for over 90 years in South Africa. Through this, we address hidden hunger fortifying our grain-based food with essential vitamins and minerals. We are also removing nutrients they don’t need such as sugar, sodium, artificial colourants, etc.
Our beloved brands include Kellogg's®, Corn Flakes, All-Bran®, Special K®, Rice Krispies®, Coco Pops®, Strawberry Pops®, Granola, Pringles® Cereal Bars and Instant Noodles.
Feeding People in Need
Since the launch of our Better Days Programme in South Africa, we’ve donated 26.5 million meals to children and communities in need .
11% of South African children (2.1 m) reported living in households that reported hunger and 30% of children living in households that did not report hunger were classified as living below the poverty line. That’s why we have been long time supporters of school feeding programmes and supporting disaster recovery efforts. In 2014 we introduced our global Better Days initiative which aims to create Better Days for 3 billion people globally by the end of 2030.
In partnership with the National Department of Basic Education’s National School Nutrition Programme, we donate food that feeds approximately 46 000 primary schools children at 69 schools every school day.
Another important partnership has been formed with retail giant Shoprite. Through this, we donate food that feeds approximated 1 600 children at 35 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres supported by the retailers through their Act For Change CSI programme food every school day.
In partnership with the Kolisi Foundation, we donate food to 4000 families in the Eastern Cape and soup kitchens in the Western Cape that serve meals to children and elderly.
